I know it can be hard sometimes to put down that coffee cup, for all you coffee lovers. Not only is it tasteful, but it also gets you through your day. There are many reasons to not put down that refreshing hot (or cold) coffee, as it is rich in nutrients and antioxidants. However, there can be some bad habits that can develop throughout times that you probably have not noticed.

Many coffee lovers form habits that rely on coffee to get things done and ultimately leads to negative side effects such as anxiety, insomnia, or headaches.(1)

However, with healthy habits when consuming coffee, you will be able to be productive and focus without having issues in the future.

Here are the healthy habits you should develop if you are a coffee lover:

NO CAFFEINE AFTER 3 PM

Coffee works best a couple hours after you wake up, and with enough sleep. In order to get enough sleep, it is important to not consume caffeine during the nighttime or even in the afternoon. The average Coffee lover tends to consume coffee various times throughout the day that can leave them jittery and hyper alert.

Experts have emphasized that you should never consume caffeine in the afternoon, especially in the evening. For many, drinking coffee after 3 p.m. can disrupt their sleeping patterns. Studies have found caffeine can have effects on your body six hours after consuming it.

If you’re looking to be the most productive throughout the day, remember to get a good night’s rest to conquer the next day. In order to do this, try not to consume coffee or caffeinated products after 3 p.m.

EASY ON THE SUGAR

If you are like most people, you probably do not drink your coffee black and love a little cream and sugar. But how much sugar is bad for you? Studies have found many great reasons to keep consuming your cup of coffee, such as lowering chances for type 2 diabetes, burning fat, and increasing productivity.

All these are great beneficial factors that make coffee a healthy beverage, as long as it does not have large amounts of sugar. There are many added sugars that can be harmful to your body, that can lead to diseases. Sugar has high amounts of fructose that has been linked to diabetes. However, there are alternatives to sugar that can be organic and all natural.

Next time you drink your coffee, make sure it is not a sugary treat, but rather a healthy beverage that makes you productive.

JUST A SPLASH OF CREAM

It can be hard to drink coffee without cream and sugar. Most people who drink it black appreciate the flavor and different taste it provides, rather than being filled with lots of cream. It is very beneficial to not fill your coffee with a lot of cream, as it can cause health problems with large amounts.

As opposed to sugar, certain creamers are filled with fats, sugar, and protein for balanced calories, as well as some vitamins. Since cream is filled with saturated fats, it is very recommended to limit your dosages to just a splash of cream!

There are, however, alternatives for cream that can include: almond milk, honey, and all natural creamers.
